CV Water Counts is gearing up for the ninth course of the Water Counts Academy, designed for community leaders in the Coachella Valley who want to learn about local water resources.

This comprehensive course will cover a variety of topics and although subject to change, may include: Course Overview; The History of Water; Groundwater, Streams and Imported Water; Colorado River Water; State Overview, Climate Change; Regional Planning & SGMA; Local Conservation Efforts and Incentives, and Making Conservation in the Coachella Valley A Way of Life; Water Quality & Regulations; Recycled Water; Building & Development and Water Efficiency; and Salton Sea Management Program.

The program will begin in late January or early February 2025, and will include five in-person classes. The first four classes will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at UCR Palm Desert, with the fifth and final session being a Saturday half day (morning) tour. Dates will be announced in December. The application deadline is Friday, January 10.
