Imagine waking up and there’s no water for a shower or to brush your teeth. You can’t wash your hands and forget making a cup of coffee.

That’s just part of what you’d be missing if there was no water.

“Imagine a Day without Water” is October 21 and was created as a day of action to raise awareness about the importance of tap water and the need to invest in water and wastewater infrastructure. Many people turn on the faucet and don’t think about the hard work that goes into delivering this precious resource to drink, fight fires, grow food and keep our communities sanitary and healthy.

This day also highlights the important work of water agencies to deliver safe and reliable water to homes and businesses 24/7 – even during a pandemic.

To celebrate the day, communities across the country are hosting virtual events, sharing water stories on social media and engaging the public.
