Together, we can all help elevate water as a national priority!
In light of the pandemic, and health and safety concerns being paramount, the Water Week partners have made the decision to forego an in-person event in 2021. However, while they won’t be gathering in-person, they will be working collaboratively as Water Week partners to bring us an informative, engaging Water Week virtual experience that you can be part of. There has never been a more important time to elevate the importance of water in national policy dialogues. We have already seen incredibly important achievements recently due to strong grass roots advocacy, including the first ever federal low-income assistance program for water and more federal funds being directed to water infrastructure.
There is a lot of buzz right now around federal water policy – and advancing the water sector’s priorities such as increasing federal infrastructure investment, securing significant funding in any upcoming federal infrastructure bill, addressing water affordability, supporting water research & development, and making our critical infrastructure more resilient. The pandemic has underscored the critical role the water sector plays in ensuring the health and well-being for all communities, and 2021 will be a critical year for engaging with federal policymakers to advance this message.
With much of the work of D.C. and Capitol Hill being done remotely over the past year, organizers are confident that the virtual format of Water Week 2021 will successfully raise the profile of the water sector in D.C. and reach policymakers at a key time. And they are hopeful that a virtual Water Week will reach new levels of engagement from across the water sector nationwide and lend its collective membership a strong voice during these challenging times.
