Desert Water Agency (DWA) expanded its Help2Others billing assistance program, giving income-eligible customers a one-time $300 credit per 12-month period to help pay their water bills.
The annual assistance amount for DWA customers increased from $200 to $300, which can cover about two months of an average residential water bill.
DWA and other water providers in the region work with Inland SoCal United Way to provide the Help2Others fund. The program helps customers who qualify for aid avoid water service shutoffs due to unpaid water bills.
The Help2Others program is funded through contributions from water agencies, their employees and community donations.
If you are struggling to pay your bill, check with your local water provider to see what assistance is available or go to inlandsocaluw.org/help2others.
Community members who want to help others can also make donations to the program at inlandsocaluw.org/general-donation (select Help2Others on the menu).
