What’s in Your Drinking Water? Your Annual Water Quality Report Has the Answers.
Have you ever wondered where your drinking water comes from or what’s in it? Every year, local water agencies provide customers with an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report—also known as a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR)—to help answer those questions.
Required under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, these reports provide a detailed summary of your water quality during the previous calendar year. They include information about where your water comes from, the substances tested for, how your water compares to state and federal drinking water standards, and the steps your local water provider takes to ensure safe, reliable drinking water.
Water quality is monitored year-round through thousands of tests conducted by water professionals and certified laboratories. The Annual Water Quality Report provides a transparent look at those results and helps customers better understand the extensive work that goes into delivering clean, high-quality water every day.
By July 1, your local water agency will make its Annual Drinking Water Quality Report available to customers. Many agencies now provide reports electronically, making them easy to access online.
When you receive your notification, take a few moments to review the report. It’s a great way to learn more about your local water supply, the quality of the water you drink, and the ongoing efforts being made to protect this essential resource.
To find your local water provider’s report, visit their website or contact them directly for more information. If you’re not sure who your water agency is, check out our handy Water Map page.
