Established in 1961, DWA was founded to manage and protect water resources for Palm Springs and surrounding Coachella Valley areas. DWA is one of only 29 State Water Project contractors, securing essential imported water for the region that is used to replenish our underground aquifer.

Over time, DWA has expanded its role to become a comprehensive water management agency serving a diverse area of approximately 325 square miles. Today, DWA offers a wide range of services including drinking water delivery, groundwater replenishment, wastewater treatment and recycling, and water conservation.

The Agency currently has about 24,000 domestic water connections in Palm Springs and parts of Cathedral City that serve a population of about 75,000 people. DWA plays a critical role in ensuring a sustainable water supply for current and future generations in the Coachella Valley. For more information, visit www.dwa.org.
