Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) is a special district established in 1918 to protect and conserve local water resources.
Today, with nearly 560 employees CVWD provides water-related utility services to more than 300,000 people in the Coachella Valley. The District serves an area of about 1,000 square miles primarily in Riverside County, with portions in Imperial and San Diego counties.
CVWD provides the following services to our community:
- Delivers domestic (drinking) water
- Delivers canal and recycled water for irrigation on farms and golf courses.
- Collects and recycles wastewater
- Provides regional stormwater protection and flood control
- Replenishes and manages the groundwater basin
- Provides agricultural drainage
- Promotes water conservation
- Participates in long-term planning to keep water supplies stable and sufficient
