On March 24, 2023, Governor Newsom lifted the conservation directive that required domestic water customers to save 15 percent monthly compared to 2020 water use.
The order also allows agencies to return to Level 1 of their Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP), which eases Level 2 water restrictions. The State’s ban on watering ornamental grass on commercial properties remains in place. These decisions are in response to the significant increase in rain and snow this year.
In addition, many water agencies also stopped drought penalties in recent weeks.
