This tall, treelike prickly pear reaches up to 15 feet high and as wide. It is a horticultural selection discovered and cultivated in tropical and subtropical America. The pads are thornless. Cup-shaped yellow to orange flowers are followed by fruit that slowly turn from green to yellow to a purplish red. It is uncertain where this plant originated. The canopy coverage is approximately 177 square feet.
