This year’s National Engineers Week is February 20-26, 2022. According to the National Society of Professional Engineers, this week is “dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing the understanding of and interest in engineering careers.”

Water engineers play a critical role in providing clean, safe water to sustain life and support our economy. This includes planning, design and construction of new facilities, as well as maintenance of existing ones.

Individuals interested in pursuing Engineering careers typically require an interdisciplinary study of math, science and some business principles. To become licensed, engineers must complete a four-year college degree, work under a Professional Engineer (PE) for at least four years, pass two intensive competency exams and earn a license from the State’s licensing board. To retain the license, PEs must continually maintain and improve their skills throughout their careers by fulfilling continuing education requirements.
