The first week of October in California is Water Professionals Appreciation Week.
From October 1-9, let’s thank all the water and wastewater pros – especially those in the Coachella Valley – who work hard to provide safe and reliable water, wastewater and recycled water.
This week also serves as a good opportunity to highlight careers in the water industry.
About 60,000 people work in California’s water industry from engineers who design pipeline to construction crews that repair and maintain pipeline.
But not all jobs in the water industry are directly related to water. There are a variety of positions that require all types of people. Water districts also need team members who work in accounting, communications, conservation, customer service and information technology.
Working in the water industry is rewarding because water districts provide a vital resource for the community. No matter where you go, people need water, so it is a good stable career.
There are six water districts in the Coachella Valley that are always looking for good employees. If you’re looking for a job in water, visit the CVWaterCounts Careers page.
Remember – if you see any water workers out and about, be sure you say “thank you” for making sure our community has safe and reliable water, wastewater and recycled water – even amid a drought.
