Incredibly beautiful and majestic, Agave American (Century Plant) is a very large, evergreen perennial that forms rosettes of thick, spiny-edged, blue-green leaves, up to 6 feet long.
The older leaves often gracefully arch down, which makes the garden even more intriguing. Mature plants (at least 10 years old) are topped with a magnificent flower stock that can reach 15 feet and bears large greenish-yellow flowers.
Extremely heat and drought tolerant, this desert plant makes a dramatic focal point, and attracts hummingbirds and birds.
