Safe and reliable water is essential to our daily lives, yet we often don’t think about how this precious resource gets to our tap. It takes a team of people to deliver the water you depend on to cook, clean, bathe, garden and use every day.

California celebrates Water Professionals Appreciation Week from October 5 – 13, 2024. The annual event provides an opportunity to thank the devoted water professionals who work to make sure you have water when you need it.

The California State Legislature established the designation in 2017 to showcase the importance of water districts in ensuring dependable water, wastewater and recycled water services.

CV Water Counts is made up of six regional water agencies from across the Coachella Valley. Your water comes from one of these providers, so take a moment to thank a water professional next time you see one!

Water employees include more than just trained water specialists, making the water world a great place to build a career. The water industry relies on a broad workforce, including engineers, plant and equipment operators, construction and maintenance teams, lab technicians, accountants, customer service representatives, and IT, conservation and communications experts.

Public water agency staff are also emergency responders, who jump into action to keep as much safe water as possible available in the event of an emergency – such as an earthquake, pandemic, wildfire or tropical storm.

No matter where you go people need water, which makes the water field a stable choice. For more information on careers in the water industry, go to cvwatercounts.com/careers.
