Victoria Falls HOA recently reimagined a large retention basin, transforming it from a patch of non-functional turf into a stunning, desert-friendly landscape! Proving that beauty and sustainability can thrive together.
What was once a stretch of thirsty grass is now an inviting showcase of palo verde and mesquite trees accented by colorful, low-water plants such as lantana, aloe, agave, and bougainvillea. The result is a vibrant, low-maintenance space that enhances neighborhood appeal while significantly reducing water use.
This forward-thinking project earned Victoria Falls HOA more than $105,000 in CVWD rebates, including funding for a smart irrigation controller that helps manage water efficiently year-round.
Projects like this highlight a growing commitment across the Coachella Valley to conserve water and embrace sustainable landscaping. In 2025 alone, 59 HOA and commercial turf conversions were completed, with many more underway. And with California’s AB 1572 requiring all HOAs to replace non-functional turf by 2028, there’s no better time to act.
HOA customers are encouraged to contact their local water agency to learn more about available rebates and start saving water today.
