A freely branching evergreen, the weeping bottlebrush has pendulous branches that become covered with magnificent, red, bottlebrush flowers in midspring and summer. It’s an attractive small tree that grows at a moderate rate from 20 to 30 feet high with a 15-foot spread.
It’s best not to plant them in lawns, as the roots do not like to be that moist. It’s also recommended to avoid windy locations. The weeping bottlebrush attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Native to Australia, its canopy coverage can be up to 177 square feet. A similar tree, but with a less weeping form, is the Callistemon Citrinus.
