[:en]The CV Water Counts program, composed of the valley’s five public water agencies, is proud to announce the winners of a contest aimed at celebrating outstanding water savers. The contest was divided into three categories to recognize homeowners who transformed their yards into water-friendly retreats, a commercial property that put in place a conservation strategy, and a hospitality industry entity that put water-saving techniques in place. The following water savers have been selected as winners:

SPRING 2015 COMMERCIAL WATER SAVER WINNER

Coachella Community Homes reduced more than 20% of the turf in a 10.1 acre space and upgraded all of their irrigation equipment with efficient models. All units also have a gravel perimeter that requires no irrigation. The apartment homes were also upgraded with low-flow faucet and shower heads, and low-flush toilets.

FALL 2014 COMMERCIAL WATER SAVER WINNER

The Coachella Valley Brewery uses a unique high-efficiency brew system. Additionally, they employ a high-efficiency cleaning system. This technology uses 60% less water than a traditional brewery. CV Brewery hosts tours and showcases their processes and equipment in store and online.

SPRING 2014 COMMERCIAL WATER SAVER WINNER

The Four Seasons at Palm Springs Community Association recently implemented a water conservation design for their clubhouse and community entrance. The entire Four Seasons community was involved in design selection and nearly 100 homeowners attended a Town Hall meeting to take part and consider landscape renderings. CV Water Counts hopes to inspire more homeowners associations to consider beautiful, water-friendly landscaping.

FALL 2014 HOSPITALITY WATER SAVER WINNER

The Quality Inn Palm Springs has put signage in all rooms to encourage conservation. Additionally, all 156 toilets and 146 shower heads were upgraded to low-flow models. Quality Inn has also invested in updating their sprinkler heads and pool pumps.

SPRING 2014 HOSPITALITY WATER SAVER WINNER

Mission Lakes Country Club golf course in Desert Hot Springs began implementing water-saving techniques in 2004 and to date has spent over $2,000,000 to improve efficiency and save water. This investment includes the installation of a new irrigation system and 3.5 acres of desert landscaping, in lieu of water-guzzling turf. With these changes, Mission Lakes has cut its water consumption nearly in half over the last 10 years and stands out as a shining example of conservation in the hospitality industry.
